Designed to protect footballers and club staff and members during bad weather before and after training sessions and matches. This technical down jacket is compact and light ‒ just what you need for keeping warm on the sideline. It can be easily personalised with your club logo.
HOW WARM DOES IT KEEP YOU?
This down jacket was proven to be comfortable at temperatures of -5°C during a standardised test in an environmental testing chamber, with a simulated wind speed of 5 km/h.
This corresponds to a 2 star heat rating according to our comparisons.
OUR CHOSEN WADDING…
We’ve gone for a 100% polyester wadding (70% recycled) weighing 125 g/m² on the body and 100 g/m² on the sleeves and hood. The wadding is composed of silicone-coated, spiral-shaped fibres that can be squashed right down and are incredibly strong. Despite being thin and light, this jacket is extremely insulating thanks to all of the air that gets caught inside it. It helps you retain heat even when wet.
WHAT IS WATER REPELLENCY? (not to be confused with waterproofing)
Water repellency is a fabric’s ability to make water run off its surface, without absorbing it.
The fabric won’t soak up water, keeping it warm and light. We’ve made the fabric water repellent by applying a treatment to the outer surface. This treatment needs to be reapplied periodically (we recommend doing so each time you wash it). You’ll find suitable rewaterproofing products in our stores.
HOW CAN YOU REACTIVATE THE WATER REPELLENCY?
After you’ve washed your down jacket, we recommend using a rewaterproofing treatment to restore the outer fabric’s water-repellent properties. Restoring the water repellency will make it perform reliably in the long term. You can find our waterproofing product in stores and online using product code 8554908.
WHY IS OUR DOWN JACKET MORE ECO-FRIENDLY?
Because the fabric we’ve used reduces CO2 emissions by 40%. The innovative lining fabric blends a dope-dyed black yarn with an undyed yarn. Compared with a classic dyeing technique, this process reduces:
• emissions of fine particulates (PM2.5) by 66%
• freshwater eutrophication by 74%
• seawater eutrophication by 68%
HOW ABOUT THE REST OF THE JACKET?
Dyeing textiles requires a large amount of water, chemicals and energy. But we enjoy wearing colour! So to reduce our impact, we use the “dope dyeing” technique. This involves incorporating powdered colour pigments when manufacturing the thread (rather than soaking the thread in dye baths after it has been made, as is usually the case). The result is that we use less water to dye our fabrics, and produce less wastewater too.
